Weight Loss is a very interesting subject as there are so many nuances to every individual's weight loss journey. Generally speaking when people want to lose weight they want to lose body fat and not muscle in order to achieve the toned look. This is because you are able to lose weight but have your body fat percentage remain the same which means that you maintain the same ratio of muscle to fat and although you do have less body weight in total you still won't have achieved the firm, toned look you were hoping to achieve.

The biggest thing to worry about in both weight loss and fat loss is calorie control. In order to lose weight and burn fat you need to be eating less calories than you are burning. However, it is best if this is a slow journey, if you cut your calories dramatically low, as you would in certain fad diets, when you come to a stop in progress you then have nowhere to go. If you cut your calories even more you'll be essentially starving yourself and potentially doing untold amounts of damage to your metabolism. resulting in gaining even more weight once you return to normal eating.

The second thing to take into consideration is your protein intake. Protein is an important macronutrient which is used to help muscle repair. Therefore when exercising it is important to have adequate amounts of protein in your diet to enable you to maintain your fitness regimen and try and maintain as much muscle mass as possible which helps to promote fat loss over weight loss allowing you to get a toned look.

Please look out for part 2 coming soon...
